The Overseas Briefing Center and the Foreign Service
Youth Foundation proudly announce the winners of the 2004 KID
VID Contest. This year's first place winners are the brother and
sister team of Jake Fulton (age 15) and Kayleen Fulton (age 13)
for their engaging production on Guangzhou, China. Their lively
narrative and extensive footage o provide an insiders glimpse
of the ancient city of Guangzhou from a teen perspective.
Second place is awarded to Andrew Johnson (age 14)
for his production of life in Prague, Czech Republic. His comprehensive
footage of the heart of Europe includes a thorough
view of the school facilities and city landmarks as well as all
of the other required elements.
Third place winners tied. They were from Mexico
City, Mexico and Yerevan, Armenia.
Third place winners Brad Dunn, Jr. (age 14), Pablo
Alaves (age 13), Sean Skinner (age 14), and Stephanie Skinner
(age 12) blended a well-organized and informative narrative along
with colorful footage to describe the unique points about life
in the bustling metropolis of Mexico City. Third place winners
Thomas Keen (age 13) and Nicholas Keen (age 11) provided a welcoming
look into the life of American kids in Yerevan, Armenia. They
covered all contest requirements, including extensive footage
of the school
Keep a look out for next years contest!! Overseas
Foreign Service kids, ages 10-18, submit videos that reflect typical
life for FS kids at a particular post, including information on
the housing, schooling, shopping, and types of recreation, etc.
The videos are added to the Overseas Briefing Centers Video
Library so when kids or families are researching potential posts,
they can view the video for information. Prize money is donated
by the Foreign Service Youth Foundation.
