Interviews from Teens who live in Frankfurt

By Evan Stevens and Anthony MacAneney.

John, 15

John Thurwachter is a teen that lives in the Siedlung and likes to skate, watch TV, play video games, and just hang with friends in his free time.  On weekend he goes downtown with his friends and some times they watch movies at the English movie theater.  He likes Frankfurt because of the good transportation, the abundance of Army and Air Force bases in the area and he feels that he has more freedom here.  He doesn’t like that he has to wait until 18 to drive and he also thinks that German prices are expensive when it comes to shopping.

Maggie, 16

Maggie McConnell is a 16-year-old teen that loves to go downtown and go shopping on the Zeil.  During the day she enjoys swimming and running and when she is bored she watches movies and hangs on the computer.   On the weekend she likes to go the movies with her friends and sometimes she goes clubbing/dancing.  Maggie likes that everything is easy to get to and the public transportation is great.  The one thing that she doesn’t like about Germany is the weather.

Ian, 14

Ian McConnell is a young 14-year-old boy who enjoys spending his free time playing video games, watching movies, and chatting on his computer.  He also likes to play various sports such as basketball and volleyball.  At night and on the weekends he spends his time downtown hanging with his friends or at the theatre.  Ian likes German food and he thinks the transportation is convenient to get where he needs to go.  He doesn’t like the language barrier and he thinks that German goods are expensive.

Josue, 17

Josue is another teen who enjoys relaxing throughout the day.  Usually taking a few naps here and there.  If he is up to it, he will go out and go out to the Basketball Courts, and play in a pick up game amongst other teens.  He enjoys working out, and being with his friends.  During the evening hours, Josue enjoys going downtown to dance, clubbing and maybe catching a movie.  Josue has his ups and downs with Germany.  He likes Germany because it is very easy to get around, and the transportation is relatively cheap.  The one thing that Josue does not enjoy about Germany is that everything is closed on Sundays, and there are no 24/7 stores.

Chris, 17

During the day Chris likes to sleep in, and play basketball with friends in the Siedlung.  Chris also enjoys just being with his friends and going into Frankfurt to see what’s going on.  During the night, he enjoys to go downtown to catch a good movie and after that he enjoys to go clubbing and dancing.  Chris enjoys living in Germany because he says there is more freedom and the transportation here is inexpensive and you can get to main stores just by walking.  He does not enjoy living here because the weather and because of the shopping here.  But other than that, he enjoys living here.
