The life of a Foreign Service kid can be exciting
and wonderful. Yet, the extraordinary experience of moving from
one country to another also creates challenges that may make life
difficult. That is why we formed Globe Trotters. Globe Trotters
have fun and offer support for middle school aged kids, who have lived overseas,
are living overseas or are going overseas for the first time. The
group gives pre-teens a chance to socialize with other kids who
understand the challenges of the Foreign Service lifestyle.
Globe Trotters' events have included ice skating,
fossil hunting, Six Flags Adventure Park, Kings Dominion, Manassas
Splashdown Waterpark, picnicking, go-karting and writing the Globe
Trotters' newsletter, Here, There and Everywhere. The newsletter
is sent around the world four times a year! We love receiving articles
from friends who have moved away and from friends we have yet to
meet. We want to hear from kids in different countries. So if you
are out there--write to us and tell us about yourself and the country
in which you are living. Send your article, letter, poem, story,
artwork or request for more information to
fsyf@fsyf.org.
