FOREIGN SERVICE YOUTH FOUNDATION (FSYF) - 2008 TEEN RE-ENTRY SURVEY

Are you a Foreign Service teen heading back to the U.S. from overseas this year? Or are you overseas now, but have re-entered American life recently for a short time (and then move to a foreign country again)!!

If so, your experiences and opinions are needed. 

Teens in the US are forming a focus group to help create a teen re-entry workshop-but a critical piece is missing-THAT IS YOU!!.  Please answer the some or all of the following questions as honestly as you can.  Your name and contact information will not be shared.

  2. Would you attend a re-entry seminar? 
  3. How many years have you been overseas since you last lived in the U.S.? 
  4. How old are you now?

  6. Have your previous moves been relatively difficult or easy for you? What have been your main difficulties, if any?
  7. If someone gave you a guidebook for returning to the U.S. and an American high school, what kinds of things would you want included in it?
  8. What are  some of the things you are worried about when you think about returning to the U.S.?
  9. If a good friend of yours moved back to the U.S. from overseas last year and wanted to give you advice, what questions would you ask him or her?

  12. Do you make friends quickly or does it take you more time?  Has moving frequently affected how quickly you make friends?
  13. What strategies do you think you will use to find new friends in the U.S.? What kinds of support would you like to have as you do this?
  14. What questions would you like to ask about social life, popular culture, etc. in the U.S.?
  15. What are you looking forward to experiencing in the U.S.? What are you worried about, if anything?
  16. How do you think you are different from kids who have never lived overseas? How are you the same?
  17. Is there anything else you’d like us to know as we prepare the teen reentry seminar?
