Raising a family in the Foreign Service comes with both amazing opportunities and unique challenges. Join FSYF and Laura Banks for this webinar on gratitude and learn about the benefits of practicing gratitude and its connection to well-being and resilience. We will explore some science, stories, and simple practices which integrate gratitude into day-to-day moments and the fabric of our lives. Cultivating gratitude can help us savor the highs and navigate the lows of this career and lifestyle, becoming an enduring personal and family strength. An abiding sense of gratitude can re-frame difficult experiences from the past, resource us in the present moment, and open us up to future possibilities. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, November 19 @ 11:30 am. Please make sure to register in order to receive the information to access the call. While raising a family around the world as the spouse of a Foreign Service Officer, Laura Banks has witnessed the power of kindness, compassion, and connection to transform challenges in a multitude of circumstances. Following an unexpected family medical crisis and evacuation, she learned about and completed teacher training to become a Certified Compassion Cultivation Training(CCT) Instructor through Compassion Institute and Stanford University’sCenter for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education(CCARE). One of her deepest desires is to share what she has learned with other Foreign Service individuals and families to help them thrive in this simultaneously wonderful and challenging lifestyle. Laura’s joys include her family, their dog Harold, poetry, running and yoga, time with friends, and tasty food prepared and shared with others. Learn more at
