What to Know About ADHD, Autism, and Educational Assessments

Description: It can be challenging to know when or if you should have your child evaluated for ADHD, Autism or educational concerns. Frequent school changes, normal developmental ups and downs, and concerns about Medical Clearance status can leave parents feeling confused, overwhelmed, and uncertain of the best options for their child. In this talk, neuropsychologist, Dr. Megan Cheatham, PsyD. will share insights on what to keep in mind when considering testing, what testing looks like (in person and virtually), and what she's learned from her work providing assessments for Foreign Service families.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the basics of assessments - what they are, how long it takes, what to look for when researching.
  • Learn how an assessment can help your child, and what it does not necessarily offer.
  • Learn how to talk to your child about the assessment process.
