About FSYF:
The Foreign Service Youth Foundation is the only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to supporting children of U.S. government employees serving foreign affairs agencies both domestically and abroad. FSYF creates programs, events, and resources to encourage resilience, camaraderie, and success among FS youth.  FSYF is a membership-based organization with one paid staff member, an Executive Director. FSYF relies on members of its volunteer Board of Directors to organize and support its activities and programs. FSYF is fully supported by a combination of membership dues and private sector, foundation, and individual donations.

Youth Engagement Coordinator(Part-Time)

Youth Engagement Coordinator

Position Type:

Part-Time   (Grant-Funded: June 1, 2026 – February 1, 2027); approximately 15 hours per week.

Resident of the DC/NOVA region a must. Remote work with in person management of events.

Position Overview

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will lead implementation of FSYF’s Building Foreign Service Youth Connections and Empowerment Through Ambassadors, Programs, and Community Engagement initiative, funded by the Una Chapman Cox Foundation

This position is responsible for coordinating youth programming, managing the Youth Ambassador cohort, supporting partnerships, and strengthening peer connection opportunities for Foreign Service youth worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

1. Youth Engagement Program and Event Management

        Design, implement, and oversee youth engagement initiatives aligned with FSYF’s mission.

        Develop structured virtual and in-person programs focused on:

o    Leadership development and forums

o    Resilience and global identity

o    Career exploration/speaker series

o    Local Service, networking and civic engagement

        Work closely with the Youth Leadership Advisory Board (YLAB) to support youth-driven initiatives.

        Maintain program calendars, participant tracking, and performance metrics.

2. Youth Ambassador Program Oversight

        Recruit, screen, and support a cohort of 4–5 FSYF Youth Ambassadors.

        Develop an ambassador orientation and leadership framework.

        Guide ambassadors in:

o    Peer connection activities

o    Youth-generated content contributions

o    Community-building initiatives

o    Representation of Foreign Service youth perspectives

  • o    Coordinate logistics, speakers, youth outreach, and event promotion (in collaboration with FSYF staff).

        Facilitate monthly cohort meetings and leadership development check-ins.

        Track deliverables and outcomes for reporting.

 

3. Partnership Coordination

        Support expansion of partnerships aligned with grant objectives, including collaboration with partners and like-minded organizations.

        Coordinate youth participation in partnership-based programs.

        Identify additional aligned opportunities for leadership, service, and career exploration.

        Maintain partner communication and track collaborative outcomes.

4. Reporting & Grant Compliance

        Track measurable outcomes including:

o    Youth participation numbers

o    Youth Ambassador engagement metrics

o    Program attendance

o    Partnership outcomes

        Contribute to required grant reports prior to Cox Foundation Spring and fall meetings

Qualifications

        Experience working with teens or young adults (education, nonprofit, youth development, or leadership programs).

        Strong organizational and project management skills.

        Experience coordinating virtual programming .

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

        Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred:

        Familiarity with the US Foreign Service and US diplomatic mission life

        Background in global education, youth leadership, or nonprofit program development.

        Experience managing youth advisory boards or youth representative programs.

Compensation

Grant-funded, part-time position. Compensation aligned with Cox grant allocation.
